I think it will flop in theaters but be worth a watch. It looks like Mainframe (Reboot) made it rather than a major studio.



Freestyle Releasing has plans to distribute the film in 2,000 theatres—1,500 in the U.S. and 500 in Canada—when it premieres on December 12, 2008. This is the first animated feature film to be independently produced and distributed as a wide, domestic release.



Delgo is a computer-animated fantasy film slated for a December 2008 debut by Freestyle Releasing. This is the first film from Atlanta, Georgia's Fathom Studios, a division of Macquarium Intelligent Communcations, who began the project as early as 1998.

Wow, they were working on it for a decade! I wonder how full the production was at first, though. Coulda just been a dude in his basement.




Fathom Studios, located in Atlanta, began development on Delgo in 1998; animation work began in 2001.

That's 7 years of animation. I bet you they were figuring 2 years. Talk about a long-term battle!




Among its stars was Anne Bancroft, the voice of villain Sedessa. She died in 2005, a few years before production finished. Bancroft starred in another CGI feature, 1998's Antz.

Wow. Talk about a posthumous film.



Freestyle Releasing has submitted Delgo as their entry for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards.

Right on. We'll see if it gets nominated.
